Donations for the restoration
After the damage Dubrovnik suffered in the War, a fundraising campaign for its restoration was launched. One of the projects within the campaign was the document "Dubrovnik 1991-1992" which was created by the Institute for the Restoration of Dubrovnik, the Institute for the Conservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage in Dubrovnik and UNESCO and published in February 1993 in Paris, both in English and in French.
A considerable impact was also made by Damir Fabijanić’s exhibition of photographs depicting the war damage and reconstruction of Dubrovnik, an exhibition which was displayed all over Europe and the world and which raised awareness of the restoration of UNESCO heritage. Some of those photographs are part of this exhibition as well.
Several organizations were specifically founded for collecting donations for the restoration of Dubrovnik and some previously existing international, public and private organizations from all over the world lent a helping hand too. Donations were mostly collected with a particular purpose in mind, for the restoration of specific monuments, and most of them were received by the end of 1997.
